Lolo Patch Notes: July 25 to August 7, 2026
The best social tool is the one that gets out of the way when there is someone worth meeting. Over the past two weeks, Lolo sharpened its front door, refreshed how the product is presented, and simplified the systems beneath the map and plans.
What shipped
- A clearer sign-in experience: the public entry screen now focuses on Apple, World ID, Google, and phone. X remains available as profile context after joining instead of appearing as a public sign-in option.
- Current iOS product previews: Lolo’s landing experience now shows the five screenshots from the live 1.0.8 App Store listing, replacing older product imagery with the current map, Smart Plans, privacy, and network-filter experience.
- A simpler product foundation: legacy token gates, holdings surfaces, unused wallet login paths, and dormant sign-in providers were removed so the product can stay focused on people, presence, and plans.
What improved
- Less noise at the front door: fewer overlapping sign-in choices make it easier to understand how to enter Lolo and where additional social context belongs.
- A more accurate picture of repeat use: activity reporting now separates real product behavior from passive background events and uses complete, non-overlapping days for retention comparisons.
- Privacy remains part of the product: Lolo continues to center user-controlled, coarse presence rather than exact live location sharing.
- Cleaner systems behind the scenes: retiring dead code and old schemas reduces the number of unused paths that can distract from map, network, messaging, and coordination reliability.
Growth/community notes
- The map is the recurring habit: a fresh analysis of high-frequency users found that 91.1% used map or discovery after their first active day, with map activity appearing on 80.9% of their return days.
- Coordination is meaningful but more occasional: Messaging and Smart Plans each appeared on roughly one in nine to one in eight high-frequency return days. The next opportunity is helping more map checks become conversations and plans.
- The product story is getting sharper: Lolo is increasingly organized around a simple loop: find your people or something to do, make a plan, and meet.
What’s next
- Help every network get started: improve the path for new and lightly connected users to find a small set of relevant people without requiring a specific external account.
- Bring planning into existing conversations: explore invoking Smart Planning inside a current one-to-one or group chat instead of creating a separate thread by default.
- Keep strengthening account context: improve profile identity linking, email persistence, and recovery while preserving one canonical account per person.
- Turn map curiosity into real outcomes: continue connecting map discovery to messages, friends, invitations, Smart Plans, and successful in-person meetings.
