Lolo Patch Notes: August 15 to 21, 2026
The best time to add someone is while you are standing next to them. This week, Lolo made that moment faster with scannable friend and Circle codes, then brought Circles closer to the map and made plans easier to place.
What shipped
- Friend QR codes: open your code from your profile or scan someone else from the Network sheet. Lolo shows who the code belongs to before you add them, so an in-person introduction can become a real connection without swapping usernames.
- Circle QR codes: Circles now have scannable invitations too. Public Circles can accept people right away, while private Circles keep their request and approval step.
- Circles in the bottom navigation: Circles now sit beside Network and Ping on the map. The new drawer makes it easier to search, browse invitations, find suggested groups, and open the Circles you already manage.
- Smart Plans around an address: type an address or place to anchor a plan there. This works whether you are planning around your current location or organizing something across town before you arrive.
What improved
- One clear Circle invitation flow: a single Invite sheet now holds the Circle QR code, share link, and, for Circle creators, the friend invitation list.
- Better referral links in the iOS app: opening a shared referral link no longer traps signed-in users on the join screen. Friend links now lead to the inviter's profile, where the connection can happen.
- Clearer navigation: Circles now use a distinct Venn-style icon, while Smart Plans remain available from the map menu and from the flows that already open them.
- Less friction before planning: opening the planning surface no longer requires a live location first. You can provide an address instead and remove it whenever you want to return to current-location planning.
Growth/community notes
- In-person connections can stay in the network: QR codes give people a quick, confirm-before-adding handoff at events, dinners, coworking spaces, and chance meetings.
- Circles are becoming a practical group layer: discovery, invitations, and management now live closer to the map instead of feeling like a separate corner of the product.
- Plans can start before people arrive: address-based planning makes it easier to organize around the actual destination, not only the organizer's current position.
What’s next
- Circle events: finish the production rollout for Smart Plans attached to Circles, including member visibility, event cards, RSVPs, and plan chats.
- More polished QR presentation: refine the visual treatment while keeping codes easy to scan and share in real-world settings.
- Better first connections: keep improving the first people a new user sees so the list is recognizable, relevant, and worth acting on.
- More dependable account linking: continue the mobile X-linking work without bringing X back as a public sign-in option.
