Lolo Patch Notes
Lolo Patch Notes: August 29 to September 18, 2026
The last three weeks were about getting people to the useful part faster. Lolo now handles international phone entry more clearly, opens the map around your network, keeps filters close, and cuts more friction from onboarding and everyday Circle use.
What shipped
- Phone entry that starts in the right country: Lolo can use your country as the default, then lets you change the flag and dialing code. The app validates the full international number before sending a code.
- Clear availability before verification: the picker shows the 87 destinations in Lolo's current supported list. If a region is unavailable, the app says so before attempting a code.
- Your network appears first: the map now opens with Friends and My Circles selected. People outside those groups stay out of the people list until you clear the filter.
- An always-visible filter dock: the map shows which friends and Circles are shaping your view. Your choices return on the next visit, including a deliberately unfiltered map.
- A six-step first run: onboarding now starts with identity and finishes after the notification choice. The old welcome, Ping, and launch detours are gone.
- Better Circle event browsing: Circles with more than five upcoming events now use a compact scrolling list instead of stretching the entire page.
- No more rotate-phone wall: turning a phone sideways leaves the real app visible instead of replacing it with a full-screen instruction.
What improved
- More reliable profile photos: image preparation now retries short-lived failures, rejects empty files clearly, and gives better guidance when an image is too large.
- Your own profile acts like your own: opening it from an internal link now shows Edit profile instead of an Add Friend action that could never succeed.
- A quieter map: ambient blue boundary outlines no longer cover the map while you browse. Presence heat stays visible, and the relevant outline returns while you adjust a Ping.
- Cleaner account and discovery choices: X integration was removed from sign-in, profiles, native handoff, and friend discovery. Phone, Apple, World ID, and Google remain the supported account paths.
Growth/community notes
- 60 Circles are organizing real-world communities: 47 were created by users and 13 are system Circles in the September 9 production snapshot.
- 337 plans and events have been created: the current planning system includes 183 scheduled plans and 38 attached to Circles in the same snapshot.
- Boston put the community flow through a real event: the official Boston Blockchain Week Circle reached 91 members. Its agenda, RSVPs, and QR onboarding worked across the September 8 to 10 event.
What's next
These items are in progress and are not shipped yet.
- Help new users avoid an empty map: Lolo is working on an explicit way to discover and join relevant, active Circles when someone has too little friend or community content nearby.
- Close the Circle-event filter gap: private Circle events should disappear when their Circle filter is off, with membership enforced on the server too.
- Make image failures useful: Circle, profile, event, and offer uploads need clearer recovery when sizing or file preparation fails.
- Give organizers better distribution: future Circle tools should let authorized organizers publish an event or offer to eligible members with clear controls, exact links, and useful reporting.
